Yom Hashoah Cross-Canada Commemoration of the Holocaust

On Monday, April 20th, the Hamilton Jewish Federation, in partnership with Jewish communities and Holocaust organizations across Canada, will present an unprecedented opportunity for Canadians to join together to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Holocaust.

This online, cross-Canada program will serve to honour the victims, pay tribute to Canada’s community of survivors, and provide a model of the resilience and faith needed to help guide us through the crisis confronting the world today.

Hosting this remarkable cross-country remembrance will be Toronto-based actor Jake Epstein, best known for his work on Degrassi, Designated Survivor, Suits, and on Broadway. Epstein is the son of Kathy Kacer, the award winning author of The Secret of Gabi’s Dresser and other Holocaust-related books for young adults.

The need to pivot from traditional, in-person ceremonies commemorating Yom Hashoah V’Hagvurah has given rise to this unique collaboration with Jewish communities from coast to coast, at a time when solidarity and togetherness is more important than ever.

Program Highlights include:

• Greetings from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

• Curated films featuring survivor testimony

• Musical performances

• Participatory elements so you can get involved from the comfort and safety of your own home.

We invite you to join us for this extraordinary event.

This program is free-of-charge. Click HERE to register and receive the link to the live cross-country commemoration.
