Hamilton is one of seven cities across the world participating in the ALEPH Festival, an international cultural initiative created in honour of International Mother Language Day, dedicated to giving new life, visibility, and contemporary resonance to the Hebrew language and Hebrew culture. Founded by Yair Qedar, filmmaker and creator of the acclaimed Hebrews documentary project, the festival views Hebrew not only as a historical or liturgical language, but as a living, evolving cultural force—one that continues to inspire literature, cinema, thought, and artistic expression across generations and borders. The event will feature a screening of Qedar's film, “Bialik: King of the Jews” from his award winning documentary project, The Hebrews, followed by a conversation with Yair Qedar and award-winning author, Ruby Namdar.
