My Herzl is an intimate and unexpected documentary about the private life of Theodor Herzl, who was the visionary of the modern state of Israel. To Eli, a Jerusalem documentary filmmaker, Herzl is a washed out icon. In the eyes of his Canadian brother-in-law, one of the world’s most avid collectors of Herzl memorabilia, Herzl is an inspiring superstar. David attempts to convince his Israeli brother-in-law of the relevance of Herzl. But will he succeed…? An unconventional documentary, this film is a personal look at the man who inspired so many – and his legacy which is still under debate. A splendid array of European style pastries and coffee will be served. 50% of the funds raised from this event will be donated to Aleh-Negev, a pioneering rehabilitative village which serves as an oasis of hope for Israel’s severely disabled children and young adults, providing them with innovative, loving care to ensure that they reach their full potential. Hand crafted Judaica items, created by residents at Aleh, will be available for purchase. Shaarei-Beth El is proud to welcome David Matlow, the creator of “My Herzl”, with his interesting and unique display of “Herzl memorabilia”. Tickets just cost $25.00.
