NEW PROGRAM SERIES: O-MA-NOOT Jewish Art Spotlights
O-MA-NOOT (Hebrew for 'art') Gallery at Beth Jacob synagogue is a spiritual and creative art sanctuary for Jewish values, themes, and artists. We promote community collaboration, cooperation and diversity within a peaceful framework.
Each week in June, join us for a one-hour presentation exploring Jewish art and artists. Thank you to our programming committee members Dina Honig and Cindy Richter for arranging these fascinating speakers.

"Hannah's story begins in Israel, where she was born, and continues in Canada where she has lived since 2004 til 2020 when she returned to Israel. A mixed-media artist, her work is influenced by her role as a clinical therapist specializing in helping victims of sexual abuse. Her creations have been exhibited at galleries in Hamilton, Edmonton, and in her home country of Israel.
Guided by self-reflection, in her art Hannah explores the visualization of intrinsic notions. She uses diverse materials and techniques such as thread molding, transparencies, and digitally manipulated prints. Her work explores trauma symptoms and visual expressions of the multilayered self, as well as feminist issues.
A graduate of the Industrial Design department at the Bezalel Academy for Art and Design in Jerusalem, in 2008 she also graduated from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. She worked with government-assisted refugees and at risk youth. She later advocated for refugee children and youths who experienced trauma. She is also a 2013 graduate from the Master's program of social work at Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently a student at the International Curatorial Design program at Shenkar. She lives in St. Catharines, Ont. In 2020 she started a year of art residency in the Arava Desert where she is influenced by the desert and local culture. Hannah is involved with the foundation of an art gallery at Tzukim, Israel while she studies at the Post Graduate Program in Design Curating, Shenkar, Ramat Gan, Israel."
